Why Choose Zinc?
There are 3 great reasons to choose zinc gutters and zinc roofing:
Environmentally friendly.
Zinc is the 23rd most abundant element in the earth’s crust. It is mined worldwide predominantly with extraction process that have minimal natural damage to the site. Zinc is recyclable and the plants in which it is processed are eco-friendly and require less energy to process than almost all other common construction materials. This is due to its relatively lower melting point.
Durability.
Zinc is a non-ferrous metal, which means it is not subject to corrosion. The patina on it protects the metal and makes it last much longer. In fact, the development of patina on zinc often “heals” imperfections thus requiring less upkeep.
Affordability.
With its patina abilities, zinc lasts much longer than normal construction metals (though not as long as copper.) However, choosing zinc over copper is definitely a more affordable option for high-end, durable roofing and gutter systems. It looks better with the color of certain building than copper would and is often used in more modern architecture.
